Gentiopicrin is the dried root and rhizome of Gentiana manshurica Kitag., Gentiana scabra Bge, Gentiana triflora pall or Gentiana rigescens Franch. Gentian has choleretic, anti-inflammation, invigorating the stomach, lowering blood pressure, etc. Gentian mainly contains iridoid glycosides, and gentiopicrin is the main active ingredient.
